Capturing a Piece of Nature
For my nature extrusion I traveled to the Shakespeare Park with my parents, a niece and nephew, and my 2-year-old Maltese named Maci. It was a warm sunny day with the temperatures up in the mid-eighties by noon. My family and I were all excited to take this outing to spend time together and enjoy the beauty of nature. We first went to the dog park, where Maci got to meet other dogs, most of them many times bigger than her. I observed the view within the dog park: I got to see many different types of dog breeds while walking around and Maci sniffed every inch of the park. The kids loved seeing the different breeds of dogs and running around with Maci, my parents loved watching us all play.
After we finished our excursion to the dog park, we then went to the pond area by the Shakespeare theatre. We picked our desired spot, close to the pond, and claimed it by laying down our blankets. My parents and I brought five loafs of bread, plenty enough to feed the ducks and geese. We started throwing the bread, breaking it into little pieces, into the pond luring the ducks and geese to us. My daddy noticed some snapping turtles, some as large as Maci, eating the bread. Then carp began to appear suddenly and scared some of the geese away. The geese and ducks were so hungry they started to climb out of the water onto the grass and towards us to be hand-fed. Maci transformed into her wild hunting side and chased the geese back into the water.
When the bread ran out we just chilled out laying on the blanket watching the ducks swim away to the next person throwing bread to them. The kids laid on the blanket and snuggled with Maci while my parents and I talked about the views and experiences we enjoyed throughout that day. I could feel the cool breeze and the smell of autumn in the air. This nature excursion was fun for me and my whole family. It is nice to live in the city, and not have to travel too far to capture a piece of nature.
